Not necessarily a pedal car but in the spirit of less fossil fuel consumption

Is your community's energy provided by a private company?  The citizens in Boulder, CO made some really cool changes to their fuel consumption by voting to become a locally owned municipal utility.  They stuck it to "The Man," which I always like.  :-)
